Youth Racing
At CCH we encourage our youth riders to get into racing as soon as they are ready. This usually starts with Go-Ride races - these cover the spectrum of cycle sport from circuit racing to track and mtb and cyclocross. Many of these take place in and around London and they are a great introduction to families into the world of cycle racing.Parental support is very important to young racers after all this is their performance and a chance to show what they have learnt at training. For more information on Go-ride races click here. Following this riders progress to entering a variety of competitions such as circuit series and track leagues. To enter these races riders must have a British Cycling licence - see here on how to get one of these - they are free or discounted to first year youth riders. Riders race in different age categories and the gearing on their bikes are restricted in each category to prevent them damaging their legs - see here for a gearing guide. |
Young Hackney Primary Schools League
Since 2009 CCHackney have been running cycling league for primary schools in the borough. The league is made up of monthly events which take in most of the cycle sport formats- road, mTb, time trials, cyclocross, grass track - with the schools entering teams of 12 riders - boys and girls form years 5&6. The riders score points for their team and these accumulate across the season. The league is very inclusive and fun and has introduced hundreds of children to cycle sport and riding in group round their area. For more information click on the link above. |
